About the Destination
Discover Jaipur
Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital and the crown jewel of India's Golden Triangle, was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II — the first planned city in India, laid out on a precise Vastu grid with wide boulevards, magnificent havelis, and a skyline defined by Amber Fort, the Hawa Mahal's 953 latticed windows, and the City Palace's ornate gates. It earned its global nickname The Pink City in 1876, when the old city was painted Jaipur Pink to welcome the Prince of Wales; the UNESCO World Heritage-listed walled city retains that character today. Part of the Golden Triangle (Delhi–Agra–Jaipur), Jaipur is also India's gemstone capital — Johari Bazaar and Tripolia Bazaar overflow with precious stones, Kundan jewellery, block-printed fabrics, and Rajasthani handicrafts.
Heritage Architecture & Royal Palaces
From Amber Fort's mirror halls and elephant rides to the City Palace's Diwan-i-Khas and the Hawa Mahal's iconic façade — Jaipur's royal architectural heritage is unmatched in Rajasthan, drawing millions of visitors to its walled old city, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
Bazaars & Gemstone Capital
Jaipur is India's gemstone and jewellery capital — Johari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Tripolia Bazaar overflow with precious stones, Kundan jewellery, blue pottery, block-printed fabrics, and handcrafted leather footwear (jutis). The city is also a global centre for emerald and ruby cutting and polishing.
Gateway to Rajasthan & the Golden Triangle
Jaipur anchors the Golden Triangle (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur) — India's most iconic tourist circuit. Just 280 km from Delhi and 240 km from Agra, it is the perfect launching point for onward journeys into Rajasthan — Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, and the Thar Desert are all within a day's drive.
