Nashik, the third-largest city in Maharashtra after Mumbai and Pune, is located 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level in the northern part of the state. This elevation provides ideal temperature variations, especially in winter. Known as the “Wine Capital of India” for its numerous vineyards and wineries, Nashik boasts a lush, mountainous terrain.

Key attractions include Someshwar Waterfall, Kalaram Temple, Nashik Caves, Muktidham, Tapovan, Ramshej Fort, Sita Gufaa, Anjaneri Fort, and the Coin Museum. Historically, Nashik is significant in mythology as Lord Rama’s exile residence, where Lord Laxman cut off Shurpnakha’s nose, giving the city its name.
